Our Name
Teknion is derived from an old Greek biblical term that means little child. Health equity has a double meaning – the first being that all children deserve the ability to achieve an equitable level of health and well-being. The second relates to how equity is used in finance to mean value. All children as they develop hold an intrinsic potential value (or equity) of health and well-being.
It is our responsibility to assure each child fully realizes their inherent potential of health and well-being.

Teknion Health Equity is a purely pediatric focused consulting firm. Our team has a track record of driving change in competitive, fast-changing, and often ambiguous environments. We understand the challenges of being a pediatric system within a large health system. We also realize that the path forward towards value requires a thoughtful strategy, change management processes, and better integration with child-focused community services including schools and social support services.

Our Logo
Our logo represents the diversity of children as they grow both in size and development. Note the representation of 4 stages (infancy, early childhood, school age and teens). The figures have blurred transitions as children develop as individuals in their own timeframe. The representation of the child's head becomes larger as the brain develops. As the children mature, they become larger and more upright with their stance progressing towards the right and the future.

Andrew “Drew” Hertz, MD is an innovative and visionary physician executive who inspires both physicians and organization leaders to transform operations, increase market share, and optimize the quality and value of care delivered. His 25 years in healthcare provides a unique perspective as a physician with private practice, health care executive, population health, alternative payment models, and start-up endeavor experience. His consistent goal is to optimize solutions for patients, physicians and hospitals.
